Tulip Time in Amsterdam: A Warm Welcome to Spring

There’s something magical about spring in Amsterdam. It’s a season when the entire city feels alive, with vibrant tulips blooming everywhere you look, and the fresh scent of spring filling the air. Each year, as I help clients plan for our Tulip Time Cruise, I feel a bit like that girl on a bike in our logo—she’s inspired by Amsterdam’s beauty and charm! It’s this same spirit that makes the Tulip Time Cruise such a one-of-a-kind experience.

If you’re considering joining, here are some favorite spots I love sharing with travelers, especially those visiting Amsterdam for the first time. There’s truly something for everyone, from history lovers to those who just want to soak in the city’s natural beauty.

 1. Glide Through Amsterdam’s Historic Canals

One of my personal highlights? The canal cruises. Amsterdam’s intricate canal system isn’t just a beautiful backdrop—it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site, with stories stretching back centuries. Gliding through the canals gives you a glimpse of the old world charm, with historic homes and charming bridges along the way. It’s relaxing, peaceful, and the perfect start to a day in Amsterdam.

 2. A Walk Through Endless Fields of Tulips

Springtime wouldn’t be complete without the tulips. A visit to the tulip fields in Lisse feels like stepping into a painting, with vibrant rows stretching out as far as the eye can see. Even if tulips aren’t your favorite flower, these gardens are mesmerizing! And if you’re on the Tulip Time Cruise, I’ll make sure we set aside a day to stroll through Keukenhof Gardens—known as the “Garden of Europe”—to catch these beauties in bloom.

3. Discover WorldClass Art and History

Art and history lovers, Amsterdam has you covered. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are absolute treasures, filled with masterpieces that never get old no matter how many times I visit. And, of course, the Anne Frank House, which I always recommend to travelers. It’s a meaningful visit that gives a deeper understanding of Amsterdam’s history and resilience.

 4. Exploring the RedLight District with an Open Mind

One area that often surprises travelers is De Wallen, Amsterdam’s RedLight District. While it’s known for its adult entertainment, there’s so much more to this part of the city. You’ll find quaint boutiques, delicious cafes, and charming architecture. It’s a great reminder of Amsterdam’s openness and welcoming spirit—qualities that I think make it one of the friendliest cities in Europe.

 5. Indulge in Dutch Delights

Lastly, no visit to Amsterdam would be complete without tasting some Dutch treats! The city’s cozy coffee houses are an experience in themselves. Whether you’re up for traditional Dutch pancakes or sampling the local cheese, these cozy spots are perfect for relaxing and people watching.

As we gear up for the Tulip Time Cruise, I hope you’re as excited as I am about this journey through one of Europe’s most beautiful cities in spring. The bike-riding girl in our logo is a little nod to these Amsterdam adventures, and I can’t wait to share them with you in person.
